Appolainaire Murenzi, is a business and entrepreneurship student at the Kigali Institute of Education (KIE) is among the winners who walked home with Prizes on 8th August during in MTN’s Sharama promotion that was held at the end of the Rwanda Trade Fair in Gikondo-expo grounds.
For Murenzi, winning the motorbike was a big luck as he had accepted to risk his limited finances as a student by entering the competition- in which he had sent over 400 messages with hope for a winning a prize.
Like other winners, Murenzi said that the new TVS motorcycle is a good head start for him to achieve his dreams of being a successful business man in Rwanda and continue appreciating the benefits of being an MTN Rwanda Cell client.
“This is going to be a starting point for me to develop my business. This is indeed a worthy capital for me and I will give use the motorcycle to get me money to support me through my last year of school and to also get me capital to start another business out of the income from the bike,” explained Murenzi .
“As a student at KIE, I have always lacked money for upkeep and now this is like a heavenly sent gift. I am really so happy that the income from the Moto will sail me through my last year in school without many financial constraints,” Murenzi said.
In addition to the two motor bikes that were won, other prizes in this round included bicycles, mobile phones, modems, free internet subscriptions, mattresses, and cash prizes on the mobile money transfer system among others. About 44 people won different prizes during this round but over 11, 000 MTN subscribers will benefit from this mega promotion winning prizes that include three cars.
Another Ngirinshuti Salum, who won a laptop, modem and three months of free internet subscription called out to the public to enter the competition and play since the game is indeed very transparent. “All I did was sending short messages and now I am a winner and so anyone else can be,” said Ngirinshuti amid excitement.
This promotion where messages costing Rwf35 each are sent and winning is dependent on the number of SMS’s one sends and the calls costing the same amount made to 155 will cost MTN more than Rwf90 million in prizes alone.
MTN’s Sharama promotion has so far close to 3,000 winners of amazing prizes such as 4 motos, 1,000,000 Rwf in cash, 10 bicycles, 2 laptops with 30 days of unlimited internet, 40 phones, up to 1,400,000 Rwf worth of airtime and 10 mattresses.
Even much more exciting prize of winning the 1st car will be held on Monday, 13th of August! Other prizes up for grabs: 2 motos, 5 bicycles, 500,000 Rwf in cash, 20 phones, 1 laptop with 30 days of unlimited internet, 5 mattresses and close to 7,000,000 Rwf worth of airtime.
