MTN “Yora Cash” promotion pays off

MTN Rwanda launched, on 27, May 2013, the one-month promotion called ‘Yora Cash’ in which a lucky winner will walk away with Rwf1m (one million francs) every day during of the promo duration.

The promotion has started paying off with the first six lucky winners walking away with cash prizes (cheques) on June 6. In their experience, the winners say that to win this lottery it solely depends on: how much you invest, the hard work and pure luck.

One of the winners, Alphonse Uwamahoro, reveals that he used the strategy of making more phone call. He invested between 35-to 45 thousand francs worth of Airtime (Talk time) and concentrated on making as many phone calls as possible for at least three consecutive days.

“It is not that easy. It is hard work and commitment to the game. If you want to win, you must invest and follow up the routine of calling” he says.

While his counterpart, Jean Bosco Murenzi used the text messages strategy to send as many people as possible in a range of three days. “I was just lucky to be a winner but it is not a guaranteed opportunity. Sometimes it is also good to be aware of chances of losing, because you never know you lucky day”

During the four weeks MTN is expected to give away more prizes worth over Rwf50 million. Over 12,000 cash prize winners will benefit from it.

How it works

Both MTN subscribers on post-paid and prepaid subscribers (per-second and MTN Zone) benefit from this promotion which is designed to reward consumers in ways that enriches all, irrespective of social status and to bring excitement to the market.

in order for one participate in promo, they are required to make a call, send an SMS or register his/her number. Basically any activity on one’s number makes one eligible for participation. The more calls made or text messages sent the higher points you get and therefore higher chances to win one of the prizes.

Yora Cash’ is a point based promotion and winners will be announced after a daily draw in different communication channels including TV, radio, print and social media.  A subscriber will make a call/ SMS or register their SIM card and earn points for each action. All the points a participant earns shall be cumulative for the day.
